MEXICAN WEDDING INSPIRATION BOARD.

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately, about a peculiar thing. I live in Mexico, I am Mexican and there are amazing things in my country to have a great elegant but colorful wedding, and yet; there has to come a visitor from another country and be the one that wishes to have a traditional mexican wedding.

With that idea in mind I started to search the web for what has to be the MUST HAVES in any "mexican themed" wedding.

SO HERE WE GO:

1. First of all TEQUILA. Though been a mexican my self I am more fund of Whisky, tequila is a national tradition and nothing in the world says MEXICO louder than tequila.

2. MARIACHI. No mexican wedding or celebration is complete with out the "Cielito Lindo", "La Cucaracha" and "El Mariachi Loco" songs. Be sure they play the most popular ones they are very fun to hear and to dance with.

3. MEXICAN FAVORS. OMG we are getting to dangerous grounds, I LOVE favors. We have lots of things that can be used such as: Sarape, sombrero, tequila shit glass, maracas. Even traditional mexican candy such as Mazapan o Coconut candy named "cocada" can be great favors.

4. THE MENU. Of course a good themed mexican wedding must have an excellent traditional mexican menu. BUT ... what about if your guests don´t like spicy food, what if they are afraid they wont like it. We have a very EASY TIP for you, so take notes. YOU CAN HAVE A REGULAR MENU. surf ´n turf, chicken or beef, which ever you prefer; just make it an international regular menu.
The TWIST have your cocktail hors d´oeuvres made in BITE SIZE mexican food such as:
mini tales, mini taco, mini quesadillas, mini chimichangas.

SPICE IT UP. add some CEVICHE shot glass entrees, this way you give your guests a taste of the caribbean too, specially if your wedding is in my area the "RIVIERA MAYA".

5. PAPEL PICADO. decoration is a very important part of the wedding, and flowers of course play a very important art. Go for strong colors such as PINK, YELLOW, ORANGE, BLUE AND RED. Try hanging out your Papael Picado on the reception area this will give a huge change to the atmosphere and it can´t get more mexican than that.

6. SEATING CARDS. This is one of my favorite TIPS. Dare to do something different, use mexican bingo called LOTERIA styled cards for seating cards and for table names. This is amazing guests will keep their card as a souvenir of your wedding for sure.

7. One last TIP is get someone who can make you COLD COCONUTS on site. And during the cocktail give your guests fresh coconuts, OMG they are amazing and you can even pour some RUM inside and make it a COCO LOCO!!!

TO HAVE MORE DETAILS AROUND LIKE MEXICAN PLATES, SOME CHAIRS CALLED EQUIPALES, THEY ARE VERY ELEGANT AND THERES NO NEED TO HAVE COLOR FULL TABLE CLOTHS JUST USE PLAIN ELEGANT WHITE ONES.

  1. Good to know about this Mexican wedding inspiration. It’s my niece’s wedding next month and searching for exquisite Chicago wedding venues to arrange a grand event. Hope to find a good venue soon and have a lovely time there.
